Usher with Pharrell Williams and Diplo in the studio; Feb. 2012

Grammy Award winning R&B/Pop singer Usher has teamed up with electro genius Diplo for a brand new single entitled, “Climax.” The track gives us just a little taste of what we can expect to hear from Usher‘s upcoming 7th studio album, and if this is the flavor, I’m sold.

I wanted to add something about the song being so hot you’ll “climax…” but I’ll spare us both that pain.

Written by Usher, Redd Stylez, Ariel Rechtshaid and Diplo — “Climax” is “Let It Burn 3.0.” Usher croons the heartbreaking ballad, mostly in falsetto, over Diplo‘s intricate arrangement.

“It seems we’re going nowhere fast, we’ve reached a climax…”

The tranquil track is full of gradual builds, at times pulsating with just as much energy as Usher‘s popular dance tracks “O.M.G.” and “Without You.” I will have to control my insatiable need to replay this song all day.

Whatever Usher‘s doing lately, it has him making the perfect musical decisions, from his collaboration with French producer David Guetta, to helping Latin pop superstar Romeo Santos revolutionize bachata with their hit single “Promise.”

Listen to “Climax” below, close your eyes and enjoy.
