Smooth combinations of soul, jazz and hip-hop are driving the buzz around UK singer/songwriter Himal whose been dubbed the “British John Legend.” Growing up between London and Africa, Himal‘s influences include legends Al Green, Stevie Wonder, Curtis Mayfield, Nas and The Beatles. For years he has been performing in some of London’s hottest venues and touring alongside Chicago’s Jesse Boykins III, English R&B songstress Jesse Boykins III and Atlanta’s Stacy Epps.

Now Himal is ready to unleash his debut independent release entitled Makin’ Moves which should be ready early this year. The album features a variety of musicians including French producer Kensaye, Andrew Yeates on keys, Jack Stevens on bass, scratches from Mr. Dex and backing vocals from Cherri Prince. The project’s title track which dropped recently gives us a snapshot of the album as a whole — a chill, original, good-feeling soul album that will have is wanting more from this refreshing new artist.
