An Innovative Web Series Reminiscent of a Latin “Cheers” Crossed With Spike Lee’s “Do The Right Thing,” Explores The Comedic Side of Gentrification
EAST WILLYB is an original, multiplatform Latino web series that intends to be a mainstay in its viewers’ daily schedule. Providing multiple episodes a week, and delivered via a dedicated website with interactive content, EAST WILLYB is the web series that you can count on to be there. Complete with its share of drama and comedy, it provides a captivating glimpse into the life of the urban American Latino community, and delivers quality entertainment to this under-served demographic.
Rather than pitch the concept to television networks, the creative team focused on the accessibility of the web to launch the series. They catered the series to the media savvy, 140-character generation, with each episode running under 3 minutes. The industry has already taken notice of this promising young team.
As the future of English-language Latino programming, EAST WILLY B impresses me not only by the quality of the series, but by its creators’ mission to push past the boundaries of traditional media”
- Jeff Valdez, founder of SiTV and co-chairman at Maya Entertainment, early supporter of the project
