For 17 years, Lanaé (aka theComplex) has been evolving into a savvy Creative/Art Director, Content Curator/Creator, Webmaster, Designer, Artist, and Photographer. She has utilized her understanding of design, social media, technology, culture and people to turn challenges into measurable successes for Fortune 500s, startups, NGOs, government agencies, and politicians.
In 2008, she became the Creative Director at Virtcom Consulting, a diversity consulting firm and The World Diversity Leadership Summit, an international diversity conference held at the United Nations in New York City. While leading various design projects for global brands such as HSBC, Arrow Electronics, Sovereign Bank and Disney, she also earned her certificate in project management.
She then brought her skillsets to LivePerson, a global software company, where she furthered her UI/UX, social media and marketing knowledge working with Verizon, Sony, Microsoft, ShopNBC, AT&T and many more. She also initiated the launch of a tool to empower the company’s account management team and alleviate strain on creative resources.
After LivePerson, Lanaé conceived Sinuous Magazine, a multicultural exploration of art, entertainment, fashion and social issues. Under her creative direction and editorial management, the magazine has attracted millions of readers and forged partnerships with brands such as Heineken, Marriott, Jergen’s, The BET Awards, EXPRESS, Budweiser‘s Made In America Festival.
Conjointly in 2011, Lanaé began managing creative and social initiatives for clients in agriculture, energy, transit, and media distribution at ProActive Communications, a PR firm and VOPED, an online video platform. Additionally, she led transformation of branding and operations for both companies, trained clients and colleagues, and implemented Agile Scrum to improve project efficiency and team communication.
In 2015, she took over creative direction for Mayor Richard Thomas’ winning campaign in New York. The following year, she ensured the success of print, digital, television, and radio campaigns for the Maryland Heath Exchange, Community Foundation for Southeast Michigan, The Lancet, and more at GMMB. There, she also used her deep understanding of digital advertising to aid campaigns for CFPB, Save Lives CA and the American Beverage Association.
Currently, Lanaé fuses her design expertise, project management skills, and web admin proficiency for clients in real estate, politics, media and nonprofit causes. She has also recently launched several collections of prints, apparel, home décor, and stationery featuring her original artwork.
